Victoria is one of Australia's most popular tourist destinations. During the winter month's skiers flock to the major ski resorts for an annual skiing holiday. Mt Hotham, Mt Buffalo, Mt Buller and Falls Creek are world renowned and many international skiers come here year after year, to enjoy their sport during the northern summer. These resorts all have complete modern facilities that include plenty of lift capacity, sensational accommodation, fantastic après ski entertainment, ski school, and ski equipment hire. There are really very few places in the world that compare to the standards that exist in the Victorian ski fields. The southern alpine countryside also has summer holiday appeal with beautiful bushwalks and the like through the superb alpine locations.
For those that crave a coastal holiday, there is plenty to choose from. The Great Ocean Road through Lorne and Apollo bay is one of the most spectacular drives you can imagine. The Grampians are quite spectacular and you could spend several days exploring this region. Further to the west the towns of Warnambool and Port fairy are really popular seaside holiday destinations and to the east of Melbourne are Phillip Island, Wilsons Promontory and Lakes Entrance provide coastal holiday destinations where there are superb beaches and lakes together with excellent fishing and surfing. Phillip Island is the home of the Australian Moto Grand Prix and is also home to a large colony of Fairy Penguins and many Koalas as well.
The balance of the state is mostly agricultural and Victoria is a noted food producer. Victorian lamb is the best and some of its wines, especially those from the Mornington Peninsular and the Murrylands are world renowned.
